Witness is the latest painting from a series further exploring identity and the self; using literal symbolism in a reductive process to synthesize pure intent.

In Witness, I press my fists into paint and apply pyrrole red and prussian blue in alternating layers; a limited palette for a unified composition. Various mediums and printmaking techniques were modified and used in the production of this work.

The intent of this painting is in response to those who fight for peace; serving as a rallying cry to bear witness to all of those affected by the tyranny of the few.

The surface of the work is highly textured with each fist surrounded by the outlines of the ‘impact’ made across the surface; attempting to push through the limits of the canvas.
