I remember when I first saw the view that became the foundation for Still. I had been thinking of my place in the world, where I stood during the quiet empty of a morning long ago. Even then, my fascination with the use of grids, perspective, and self-referential elements, are evident. In this composition, a cartesian grid is represented by a tiled floor bisected by a door halfway open and interrupted by my feet cast partially in shadow at bottom.
